Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and National Park
Rincon de la Vieja is a volcano that is to 1.916 meters on the level of the sea, expanding on 400 kilometers square of land. Its formation must to the simultaneous explosion of several volcanic cones, that grew and they were joined in a single mountain. Nine independent sites of volcanic activity in the top of the mountain have been identified. One is active, the others slowly are being eroded by the elements.
Hot Springs and géisers of steam are an occurrence common in this zone. In addition lakes that contain dioxide sulfide, with steam layers exist in constant boiling. The thermal activity in the park increases at the rainy time by the amount of water that constantly is warmed up and evaporated.
