Geography of Costa Rica
Costa Rica is located within the following geographical coordinateses: 8° 03' and 11 ° 13', of North latitude and 82” 32' and 85° 57', of west longitude. Including its insular area, km.2 has an extension of 51,100. Next to Belize and El Salvador she is one of the smallest republics of Central America. It limits the north with Nicaragua and the south with Panama, the east with the Caribbean Sea and the west with the Pacific Ocean.
The length of the coast includes/understands 1,228 kilometers, of which 1,016 are in the pacific coast and 212 kilometers, in the Caribbean Sea. The pacific coast presents/displays a series of irregularities like peninsulas, gulfs and bays, condition that the establishment of harbor zones facilitates and for the tourist development. On the contrary the coast of the Caribbean is more regular, but less apt for this type of facilities.
In agreement with the constitution of the relief, one is crossed of Northwest - Southeaster by four mountainous chains: Mountain range of Guanacaste, Mountain range of Tilarán, Central Volcanic Mountain range and Mountain range of Talamanca.
